For years and years one of my goals has been to make it onto the ballot for the Aurora Award.

The Aurora Award, for those who aren’t aware, is “Canada’s annual English-language Science Fiction and Fantasy Awards” (I nicked that off their webpage). Much like with some other genre awards, when you make it onto the ballot you get a pin. I have coveted one of those pins since the very first time I saw one and made ‘Get on the Aurora ballot’ one of my career goals.

It’s a tricky goal to have, however, because it’s largely out of your hands.

But I’m super excited to announce that it’s a goal I can now check off the list.

This year I have three things on the Aurora ballot. Three. That’s crazy in the best possible way!

Here are the categories I am nominated in (emphasis mine):

Best Young Adult Novel
Dragon Assassin, Arthur Slade, Scholastic Canada
Flights of Marigold, Susan Forest, Laksa Media Groups Inc.

I am incredibly excited to find myself included in the company I am in on this ballot. Incredibly.

And I cannot wait to receive my pin. Honestly, l might be too afraid of losing it to wear it at conventions… LOL We’ll see. We’ll see…

Thank you so much to everyone who nominated my work, and congratulations to all my fellow nominees 🙂
