Each year I’m proud to organise a fundraiser in the form of a blog tour to benefit the Edmonton Food Bank. The details change a wee bit from year to year but the goal and the basic format do not.
Myself and a number of other bloggers all post something in keeping with the year’s theme and invite our readers to donate to the food bank and help feed hungry families during the holiday season.
I support the food bank because it was central to a great many Christmases in my past, when money was tighter than it is now, and I want to make sure it’s there for other people who need it.
Even though the blog tour won’t begin until next week, the fundraiser page is open now — I had to make it early in order to pass the link on to all the participating bloggers.
I know money is super, super tight this year for a lot of people, and it’s for precisely that reason which I expect the food bank will be seeing its highest demand ever. The good news is that because of their significant bulk buying power each $1 donation can be turned into 3 meals.
So when we say every little bit helps, we’re not kidding.
But this post isn’t meant to pitch you about the fundraiser — I’ll do loads of that next week — but rather to introduce you to it, and to the bloggers who will be participating 🙂
This year our theme is ‘Connections’ and I will be happy to connect you with each of the bloggers you can see listed in the schedule above. It’s my hope we’ll be able to help brighten the holidays for some strangers, and have a good time doing it.
