I first created this website in 2006, and in the fourteen years between then and when I’m writing this now it just kept getting slower and slower. Even moving to dedicated hosting didn’t help very much. So, in April 2020 I blew it all up to start over. As part of that process I’ve begun doing most of my blogging over at Patreon. Thus, you can find all of that right here –> Rhonda Parrish’s Patreon.

Not only can you read many of the posts there without being a paid patron (including all the Calls for Submissions and important updates) if you click the ‘follow’ button on that page it will email you whenever I post a public update as well.

Also, even though I blew up the old blog that was here I wasn’t willing to lose fourteen years worth of work.

Luckily for me, my friend BD Wilson knows a thing or two about this kind of stuff and was willing to help me out. BD archived the old blog for me, so if you’re looking for something that was posted pre-April 2020 your best bet is going to be to check here –> RhondaParrish.com Blog Archive

Really important updates like book releases will also be blogged here as ‘Important announcements’.

Blindspots Deleted Scene

I largely discover the stories I’m writing as I am writing them. That was definitely the case with Blindspots. When I began I knew what the inciting incident was going to be ‘Ricky’s brother is missing’ and had a couple vague ideas of what might come after that, but I...

Alternate POV Scene from Blindspots

One thing I really enjoy doing in my writing is exploring the same situation through different points of view. Writing scenes from a second point of view almost feels like cheating, because the hard part (for me) is done – the action, the plot, that’s all decided...

A Day in the Life

Not so long ago I was asked to write a guest post about what a typical workday looks like for me. I thought that you might enjoy reading that too, so I'm sharing it here on my blog as well :)A Typical Workday… I wake up. I go back to sleep. I wake up again for real...

Blindspots is out today!

My computer hates me! That is not how I expected to begin this blog post, but here we are. It's release day for Blindspots, I'm meant to be shouting the news from rooftops but instead my computer is being a big old jerkface and not doing what it's supposed to. Rawr!...

An Aurora Award Nomination!

Holy. I should not start this blog post with this, but I'm going to anyway. You would not believe how many tries it took for me to come up with a title for this post. It was truly remarkable, which, is probably why I'm remarking upon it 🙂 I am incredibly excited to...

Blindspots – Chapter One

The war is over. Ricky just wants to lick his wounds and learn what the new normal is going to look like for him, but his brother has gone missing. Now Ricky needs to team up with his wartime friends (and at least one dog he’d hoped never to see again) to find him,...

Saltwater Sorrows

Saltwater SorrowsDeep, mysterious, beautiful . . . dangerous . . . Women and the sea have been tied together in myth and story from the beginning of time. Tales of women being drawn to the sea or being left on the shore, waiting for their men’s return, have been...

Blanket Fort (and writing)

I don't remember what it was called back in 2018 when I created my Discord server. Something about NaNoWriMo? Man... I know it's only 5 years ago but it feels like a whole lifetime. Anyway. Yes, I created my Discord server in 2018. Back then it was mostly just myself...

The Chimps and I

I have a thing for chimpanzees. Not like the whole 'chimp dressed up as a person ha ha isn't that funny?' thing, in fact, I kind of hate that thing. What I love is chimpanzees just being chimpanzees. The thing that opened my eyes to how amazing chimps are, sadly...
