Over the course of this month I want to take a moment to shine a spotlight on some of the creators who have signed up for this year’s Giftmas Create-A-Thon. I think it’s really easy to get caught up in the numbers of, like, how many donations, and how much money is raised — and obviously that is important. But it’s also really important to celebrate the people who have signed up to participate in this fundraiser in an attempt to leave the world better than they found it.
Today’s spotlight is on Iseult Murphy.

What made you sign-up for the Create-A-Thon?
I love raising money for charity and I love a writing challenge. Having the two combined in one event is genius! I want to stretch myself to see how much I can write over the month and how much sponsorship I can get!
Can you tell us a bit about your goal?Â
I decided to choose a writing goal because I really want to focus on writing new work. I’ve so many ideas and I want to let the characters live! 30,000 words was too easy a goal. I hope to write 90,000 words but that’s an ambitious goal. Therefore I thought I’d go with 60,000 words. I know I can achieve it, but it’s still a push to get there.
What is your least favourite thing about the month of November?
My least favourite thing about November is that I’m usually busy making gifts for my family for Christmas, and it gets really stressful and hectic as I work to finish my presents in time.
What book do you wish you could read again for the first time?
The Old Kingdom trilogy by Garth Nix.
Is a hot dog a sandwich?
No.
