Moar Zombeez

Flea Market ZombiesThere has been so much zombie stuff going on of late, what with the #SummerZombie goodness and my own giving over my blog to the theme that I’m beginning to feel a bit zombie-ish myself. Which is not to say I’m getting tired of the shamblers, I’m not, I’m just running low on words for blog posts 🙂

Happily, though, I don’t have to be wordy all the time 🙂

Back on Father’s Day I had a guest blog at Sarah Lyons Flemming’s blog about why I still love zombies. You can read about it by clicking here. There’s even a short little poem there 🙂

Then, yesterday I was interviewed at Books, Beer and Blogshit about Waste Not (And Other Funny Zombie Stories). You can check it out by clicking here.

Also, John Anthony James wrote a blog post a while back about why zombies are awesome. He’s dusted that off and spruced it up a bit for us, and you can read it by clicking here.

And now, to finish up, I’m going to link to a few zombtastic poems and stories from Niteblade. Because :-p There are loads more zombies at Niteblade, but I’m just picking some of the more recent ones to link to here 🙂

The Summer I Fell In Love by Aaron Polson

You Kill Me by Milo James Fowler

Forbidden Island by J.A. Grier

The Traveling Dead by Keith Kennedy (I’m not actually sure if this is about zombies… but it *could* be…)

Compassion, During and After the Fally by Cory Cone

Enjoy 🙂

P.S. the image right there is the cover from Niteblade’s June 2010 issue, Flea Market Zombies 🙂

I’m Interviewed at Jay Wilburn’s Blog

Summer of ZombiesLike the subject says, I’m being interviewed over at Jay Wilburn’s blog today as a part of the Summer of Zombie blog tour. As a part of that, I’m also giving away a few copies of Waste Not (And Other Funny Zombie Stories) on Facebook 🙂

And with that, I’m going to hit ‘Publish’ on what might very well be the shortest blog entry I’ve ever written 😉

Tesseracts Interview

Tesseracts 17Recently the amazing Ms. Colleen Anderson interviewed me about my story, “Bedtime Story” which appears in Tesseracts Seventeen: Speculating Canada from Coast to Coast.

I probably shouldn’t admit this but… I was playing World of Warcraft with some friends when I got Colleen’s email with the interview questions in it. I alt-tabbed from my game when I got the email notification and read them, then popped back into the game and wailed to my friends, “The questions she’s asking are smarter than I am! Or, at least, they assume I’m smarter than I am!”

I was so intimidated. You have no idea. It fell to poor BD to talk me down (the other friends aren’t writers so…). The thing was, once I got all my insecurities in hand, Colleen’s questions really made me think. Hard. Not just about “Bedtime Story” but about all my writing. Thinking that is sure to make my work stronger in the future, and for that I thank you Colleen.

Tesseracts Interview: Rhonda Parrish

(Did I mention she compared “Bedtime Story” to Peter Pan? ZOMG)

Five Questions from Beth Cato

He Loves Me Not - Photograph by Rhonda ParrishBeth Cato is an incredibly talented writer and poet who I’m proud to call my friend. Very recently she offered me the chance to be interviewed about Metastasis, my upcoming anthology from Wolfsinger Publications. I jumped at the chance.

Her interview went live on her blog today. You can check it out here — Five Questions for Rhonda Parrish, Editor of Metastasis. As you may have guessed from the title, the interview is short, only five questions, but it covers a lot of ground just the same. If you’ve submitted to Metastasis, are thinking of submitting or just want to know a little bit more about me or the anthology, check it out. It’ll be well worth your time.

Bewitching Book Tour

I wanted to do a virtual book tour for the release of Aphanasian Stories but April was so crazy I knew I wasn’t going to have time to set it up, so instead I booked a couple tours with websites who would do all that stuff for me 🙂 The first is the Bewitching Book tour. I’m going to be all over the interwebz on this one 🙂

Books. We Signed ’em.

Book-SigningWednesday’s Edmonton book launch of Masked Mosaic: Canadian Super Stories and Krista D. Ball’s book, What Kings Ate and Wizard’s Drank, was equal parts exciting, nerve-wracking and intimidating. It was the first time I’d ever signed books for strangers and the first time I’d ever attended the launch of an anthology with one of my stories in it. Thank gawd it was for the one Jo and I wrote together because that meant he got to be there with me, signing, chatting and keeping me sane.

In the end it was fun. Emotional, but fun. I learned a lot that will come in handy for the next book signing/launch I attend, and I met some awesome people.

Aphanasian Stories Giveaway

Aphanasian Stories by Rhonda ParrishWhen you combine Lost and Found, Shades of Green (with a new title) and Sister Margaret into one self-published collection you get Aphanasian Stories. Clever title, no? LoL This book is available now but I don’t have time to promote it yet so what I’m going to do is pretend that it’s not available. Yet. Come the middle of May when the Niteblade fundraiser, Blogging from A to Z, Camp NaNo and April Poem a Day are done, and I’ve recovered a little bit, I’m going to officially release this book.

My plan is to do some intensive promotion over the first five days (May 15-19th) and I’d love for you to be a part of that. If you have a blog that accepts guest posts, does interviews or book reviews please get a hold of me (rhonda@jofigure.com). I would really like to send you a copy for review or make an appearance and share my book with your readers. I promise not to be spammy 🙂

If you don’t have a blog, I’d still like for you to be a part of this launch. I’m giving away three copies of Aphanasian Stories on Goodreads. You could be one of the lucky winners, all you have to do is enter at the website.

Edmonton Book Launch

I’m super excited to announce that there will be an Edmonton book launch for Masked Mosaic: Canadian Super Stories (which includes Jo and my tale Sea and Sky) along with Krista D. Ball’s book What Kings Ate and Wizard’s Drank. It will be at Happy Harbor Comics on March 20th starting about 5pm. I’m told there will be cookies 😉

The facebook page for the event is here and if you live in or around Edmonton I really hope to see you there.

Coyote Con

Just a super quick note to remind anyone who is interested that I’ll be be on the ‘Zine Evolution panel with JA Howe, Karen Newman, Megan Arkenberg and John Klima at Coyote Con tomorrow at 5pm EST.

It should be a very busy day for me as Danica has a dance and choir performance in the morning and afternoon (MST) which will mean a lot of rushing before I make it back home to go on the panel. Check it out though, it’s free and should be informative 🙂

Bad Rhonda

This is Absinthe. I’m currently sitting on the sofa while I work and she is pressed up against my side being an adorable little purr-ball.

Shortly after I made my blog post yesterday Kari Wolfe from Imperfect Clarity posted an interview she’d done of me a while back. It might be interesting to you. You can see it here.

Also? I’m bad. I totally forgot to mention that I am giving away three copies of Shades of Green on Goodreads. You can enter to win by clicking here. Also, while you’re there why not friend me? My profile is here and I’d love to have some more friends over there. I really enjoy seeing what people are reading and quite often pick up books based on recomendations from my friends.
