The Sound of Sirens

For this, the final entry into the Sirens blog tour, I’d like to leave you with something amazing — The Sound of Sirens. This podcast was created by Cat McDonald and edited by Nick Acheff to celebrate the launch of Sirens so we affectionately refer to it as our launchcast 🙂

When Cat and I first started discussing the possibility of creating this launchcast I said, “I like this podcast-style idea you have. Do you have any experience dealing with audio editing or anything of the like? Because I don’t LOL So while I’m happy to solicit recordings from people and such, I don’t have the skills to turn it into something cohesive & I’d need someone else to take the lead on that. Could that person be you?”

Cat’s response after a couple more emails was “I baaaaasically can’t be stopped.”

She meant it.

Cat put together an amazing line-up of Siren-y interviews and readings. I’m biased. Of course I’m biased. But it’s true. Check it out:

One of my favourite things about this launchcast was hearing the variety of accents of my contributors. It made it so real to me, like nothing else ever has, now very multi-national this (and every one of my anthologies) book is. Please listen and enjoy The Sound of Sirens.

Sirens: The Blog Tour

The release date for Sirens keeps inching closer and closer. Sirens Blog Tour

We’re creeping ever closer to the release date for Sirens so I’m turning my mind toward spreading the news about it once that happens. To that end, I would like to set up a blog tour. Myself and several contributors are willing to commit to providing tour hosts with whatever kind of material we can–guest blogs, interviews, review copies, excerpts or a copy/paste announcement post. The only thing missing from that equation is hosts.

SCARECROW & CORVIDAE Blog Tour

Some people have great advertising budgets or publishers with huge publishing budgets. I, on the other hand, have great friends and have to rely on word-of-mouth and grassroots (If I can use that word in a non-political context) efforts to spread the word about my work.

It’s time, again, for me to ask for your help.

World Weaver Press’ publicist is going to be working hard to publicize CORVIDAE and SCARECROW but in addition to her efforts I would like to run a blog tour for each. Will you help me with that?

If you have a blog I can send you a press kit with images, contributor interviews, excerpts, blurbs, links and all that kind of awesome stuff. Or, I can hook you up with some of my contributors (and/or myself) to do interviews with you, write guest blogs or any other unique thing that you can think of. A is for Apocalypse

Apocalyptic Blog Train

Holy smokes! The last couple weeks have been a blur. Partly because of other projects, but also partly because of the release of A is for Apocalypse. It’s here! Out and available for purchase and reading. It hasn’t really been *that* long in coming, but it kind of feels like it, at least to me.

I can’t begin to tell you how proud I am of this book. I think it’s a fantastic way to kick off the whole series of books (which I’ve taken to calling the ABCs of Awesome. At least in my head LoL). Part of the reason it feels to perfect is because it’s about the apocalypse. The apocalypse is about the end of the world, but every ending is also a beginning and so what better way to–

Did I have you going?

Did you think, just for a second there, that I was going to have some sort of deep or meaningful thought?

LoL

Nah.

The truth is, I just really love apocalypse stories. I always have.

At an age when other people were playing ‘house’ I was playing ‘runaways’ which was a lot like house except that my siblings and I had run away from home and were re-building a new one. The game was about survival. It was about ingenuity. Starting over.

Once I actually discovered apocalyptic (and post-apocalyptic) movies and books? Dude, I was in heaven.

When I decided to do this series of anthologies the only question for the first book was whether it was going to be titled A is for Apocalypse or A is for the Apocalypse. The subject matter was never in doubt.

I really enjoyed the variety of stories this collection has to offer, and also the myriad of ways people chose to end the world. If you’re into apocalyptic fiction, I think you will too.

As a way of celebrating A is for Apocalypse’s release, several of the contributors to it are participating in a blog train. Over the next several days you’ll be able to hop from one blog to the other, getting a little taste of what they have to say about the book.
